PROJECTS Yukon

Yukon

Yukon’s gold potential was first recognized during the great Klondike gold rush of 1898. Over 20 million ounces (600 million grams) of gold have been recovered from the Klondike placer mining district and production is ongoing. Historic Hand Miners and later the mechanized Miners where careful to select only areas with sufficient economic potential to mine for their operations.

The main criteria for selection was the value of the gold they could extract per cubic meter of material. Areas with low grade would have been to marginal for the operators of that time and where ignored or sometimes covered with tailings that often retained more gold values then the ground they covered up. Yukon Creeks have produced over 500 tons of gold out of placer operations. Over 85 % of those 500 tons were produced in the Dawson City Mining District where some of the most recognized contributors to this production have been Bonanza Creek, Eldorado Creek and the Sixty Mile watershed, where Zamarat Mining’s Glacier Creek is located.

Gravels that had been disregarded and gold still suspended in the tailings of previous operations have become very attractive for exploration and mining under current gold prices. In the case of Glacier Creek, previous studies indicate that the expected average grade is about 0.75 gr/m3, for 700,000 m3 of gravel to mine in the next 3 years.

ZAMARAT MINING has leased 165 claims in Glacier Creek, located in the famous Sixty miles Placer area. This project develop with Erich Rauguth, who has been mining in Yukon since 1975, is based on  alluvial mining  with focus on areas that where mined before having yielded exceptional amounts of Gold and a high probability to contain economic side pay and tailings with residual gold values.

Mining operations on Glacier Creek placers will start in May 2011.
